Coupang must be a familiar online shopping website with both Koreans and expats. However, some of you who are not too good at the Korean language may struggle with how to return products on Coupang. So, in this article, we will guide you on the way to returning goods on Korea’s most popular eCommerce website: Coupang. 

 

The normal returning fee

After checking the boxes shipped to your house from Coupang, if you are not satisfied with the goods inside, you can ask to return them. Normally, it will cost 2,500 won, which is the shipping fee. If the shop sent the wrong item or the quality of the goods is terrible, they should be in charge of all the fees. You should only pay the shipping cost if the decision to return the goods is completely based on your own preferences, not the shops' mistakes. 

 

Rocket Wow, Rocket Delivery, and Rocket Fresh

Unlike the regularly shipping methods on Coupang, if you have registered for Rocket Wow membership (로켓와우) and buy the items shipped with rocket delivery service (로켓배송), you will be offered a "Free Return" service.  However, you should note that this requires you to return goods at most 30 days from the date of purchase. For example, if you buy clothes that are too small, you can return them for free. Please remember not to tear off the clothing tag or else it can't be returned. This also applies to all clothing in any kind of Coupang service. 

In addition, fresh food shipped by Rocket Fresh (로켓프레쉬) can also be returned for free. Especially when the fruits or vegetables are damaged or are not fresh to your liking, it is even easier to return. 

 

The detailed returning procedure 

Below is the detailed guide on how to return goods on Coupang. The first step is to click "Order List" (주문목록). 

On this list, find the item that you want to return and choose "Return Application" (반품신청). 

Then, you should click "다음 단계" (next step). 

The next step is to choose the reason why you want to return. You have to check one of the 13 reasons provided by Coupang:

1. Just simply change of mind

2. Color and size are not as expected

3. The price on other sites is lower

4. Chose the wrong option 

5. The product has defects

6. The real product is different from the product explanation

7. Both the package and the item are damaged

8. The package is good but the item is damaged

9. One part of the product is not shipped

10. Components of the product are not properly included

11. The shipped product is different from the ordered product

12. The color and size is different from the color and size of the order 

13. The product is delivered late


Next, you click "다음 단계" (next step). 

The next step is to confirm all the information after choosing the recovery service (상품 회수 여부). The things that need to be confirmed include the product (반품상품), the reason for returning (반품사유), 상품 회수지 (address to pick up the product). 

Finally, you need to choose the place you will place the product for pickup.

1. In front of the door

2. Giving to the delivery man yourself

3. Security Guard room

4. Other places (for example, below the stairs, rooftop, etc.)

After completing this step, just click "반품접수" (Return request received).
